"Legs Like Mine"
Words and Music by Hair Knight
Appears on Bridges & Snakes

Grateful Ted and Barbara Ann were lovers,
Sometimes they didn't get along.
But Ted and Ann held onto each other.
Sometimes, they would share a song.
Grateful Ted got shot at a revival.
Barbara got pregnant by the mailman.
On the day of the baby's arrival,
Ted was six feet under getting a tan.

Grateful Ted don't get junk mail no more.
He can't afford it.
Barbara Ann doesn't play the piano.
She can't afford it.

The mailman skipped town with his new honey
Barbara was left to raise the child alone.
Scraping together all of her money
She bought her way out of the R.F.D. zone.
With her boy, Zipcode, (she called him Zippy)
She moved in with a French poet
Although the townsfolk called her a hippy
She made her way with what she could get.

Barbara Ann doesn't wear sunglasses
She can't afford it.
Zippy's growing but he doesn't eat broccoli
They can't afford it.

Zippy grew up and went to college.
Teaching himself to be a mailman.
Met a girl with dangerous knowledge.
She went by the name of Elizabeth Ann.
Zippy and Elizabeth Ann were lovers.
Sometimes they didn't get along.
But Zippy and Ann held onto each other.
Sometimes they would share a song.

Take me to the passage room where I can smell the colors.
Let me see the grapefruit boy: The future is in crullers.
